Argentina economy is in a very bad state and is currently unstable so steam disabled it.
A few game based news sites have been reporting it.

You only need the vpn for changing store country, after that you wont need it anymore.

I did it on my own account a month ago and on 2 more accounts from friends 2 days ago and today.

This has nothing to do with the thing everybodys discussing. I used my Visa in September to buy Auric cells so this article is pointless. What they did was to force card users to have a card been issued in Argentina in order to be able to use it.

Just use a steam gift card and you good. Close the thread.

will migrating to argentina in the steam store require a VPN? I'm having trouble finding one that offers a free trial

Because of the fees, you will pay a bit more but better still.

what's the drama regarding russia vpns and their store? I have russian servers on my vpn, sadly no argentina, so could I just use that instead and buy a gift card from g2a with the same method?

Since the gift card is listed as GLOBAL, i think it should work

Stop spreading false info you can still do this for auric cells and to buy games.

After screwing around with G2A for a while (kept giving me errors, declined my payments, then apparently blocked me for suspicious activity) trying to buy a 25 euro giftcard for $34, I realized there's a much easier and cheaper way. Just use an alternate Steam account not set to Argentina to buy a digital gift card off Steam and gift it to your Argentina account. Gotta add them as friend for 3 days before you can do this though.

I was skeptical of this comment at first but what this dude said worked! It looks like gift cards are not region locked or anything like games, you can send them to players in other countries AND it converts the currency.

I logged into my UK Steam account and gifted £4 to my Argentina account and it gifted just fine, it also converted the £4 into about 320 Argentinian Pesos which is a tonne to buy DLCs, battlepass ect.

At least in Argentina 500 Auric Cells was 68 Argentinian Pesos so you do the maths

Okay I wanto to verify something, so I'm also subscribed to humble bundle some keys are region restricted and not for my argentina steam region.
so If I wanted switched from Argentina to Egypt to activate the restricted keys:
-Do I need to tie a credit card to switch back to Argentina store or only use VPN like usual.
-If I switched, will the games I activated while being in Egypt, will I be able to play them.
