Criminals have an exploitable edge over corporations.
The figures about the prevalence and under reporting of cyber attacks comes from a 2010 CyberSecurity Watch ****** carried out in the US by a number of organisations, including the US Computer Emergency Response Team. The ****** states that ‘the public may not be aware of the number of incidents because almost three-quarters (72%), on average, of the insider incidents are handled internally without legal action or the involvement of law enforcement.’
This means if online criminals keep growing and growing in numbers (which they are...) by attempting to scam the "rich kids" of Silicon Valley , the balloon will most likely pop and huge damage will be done. Just compare the MPGH community from now to a couple of years back. Pretty much every single person is doing some illegal side hustle (whether he/she wants to admit it). There are all types of metaphors for this "problem", but history has shown that the grow is never infinite and time will come when the pop is going to knock us tf out. But that's the fun of it... we want change, but we don't know what change we want, so we just do shit that will have an uncalculated effect. If companies don't start involving the law more frequently (which most likely won't happen), something will happen whether good or bad. It's going to be interesting nonetheless.
