How to fix the original Grimoire 3.8

I downloaded the Grimoire 3.8 project files, and after building and running it, the game doesn't run. It just shows an empty progressbar forever.
Does anyone know why this happens and how to fix it? I need something to start with and please don't give me "Why not download grimoire 3.8+" replies since 3.8+ is a fork from biney's original 3.8 version, and well I was planning to fix some minor and insignificant problems, as well as modify the user interface.

Try to base on AQLite's source code. Maybe you'll find what you need there. If not, maybe dm @EmperorArts since he's the one created grimoire 3.8+ from the outdated source code.
