Yes editing your save profile is OK idk how safe bp is but editing save profile so you have every perk and items and all that is fine.
The only way you can get banned for editing save profile is when you get reported on the dead by daylight forums: https://support.deadbydaylight.com/h...d=360000942011
If you get reported ingame. They will not look at your save profile or anything.
So best to not get reported would be to not tell anyone that you edited your save profile.
And also don't be toxic or anything ingame because some people might get sooo angry that they go on the forums and report you for some bullshit you haven't done and they will still check your stuff and will see you edited your save profile. So just play like a normal nice player and don't tell anyone about anything unless you can actually trust them.

There is no best way, if u are reported with ticket, u will be ban.

The best way of save editing is - just modify ONLY levels of characters to 50 (NOT prestige and NOT Legacy). And add every perk to every character. Thats all. Do NOT add items/offerings e.t.c.

And close your steam account if you will have many achievements in the same time.
