example: I'll check the website at 2pm, I enter code. i leave computer to go do something IRL, come back 30 mins later, and I need to enter another code

I've heard about this occasionally, likely your ipv6 address changed when you revisit. We're migrating soon to a new software, I don't anticipate we'll have any plans to fix this.
If you wanna avoid this, you can disable ipv6 until they migrate to new software
