Well, maybe you should be more comprehensive and direct next time rather than saying and I shall quote "agreed here. do not buy for the word "gaming" in the name" - that does not really translate into "don't get tricked into buying a product that has gaming in it" - that's just my opinion

I decided to buy Silicon Power GAMING 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory yesterday. Was the cheapest price/GB wise for RAM cards above DDR4-3000 (also read/watched a bunch of benchmark tests using different RAM speeds and it seemed that anything after 3200 has diminishing returns, especially once you go above 3800). Also a bunch of newer games running at 4k ultra settings utilizes a fuck ton of my RAM, so I needed to upgrade from 16 to 32 if I want to be able to have my game and chrome browser running simultaneously. Didn't realize RAM speeds mattered really, thought as long as it was DDR4, it was fine. The RAM cards in that build were like good ones when I first built my PC like 6 years ago lol.

Ryzen CPUs (unlike Intel) benefit from high frequency, low latency ram a lot so that's why you see the default ram speed of choice being 3200 cl16. generally, you top out with 3600mhz cl14. At this speed, it will run at the same frequency as the infinity fabric within the Ryzen CPU leading to maximised performance without any manual tinkering.
By the way, your R9 5900x is one of the best consumer CPUs on the market
(second only to the R9 5950x). So I'm just giving some recommendations I think are reasonable for your CPU

(second only to the R9 5950x). So I'm just giving some recommendations I think are reasonable for your CPUMy old case had a screw stuck in a certain spot so I had to buy a new case. Went to microcenter and asked for a recommendation and the associate recommended me the Lian Li Lancool 205 which cost like $100. I was like sure whatever. Also needed a new cooler since the bracket on my old fan was a little wonky. The microcenter associate asked if I was looking for air or liquid cooling and I said air. He gave me a face and said with a high end processor like a Ryzen 9 5900x I highly recommend liquid cooling so he recommended I get a Lian Li Galahad AIO (think this cost like $150?). Once again I was like sure whatever I guess better a high end liquid cooling system instead of a random fan for a high end CPU. Motherboard also got delivered today so I started building the PC today. Started at 5 pm and basically was working on the build until midnight when I finished putting everything together (note I also had to disassemble my old pc to salvage drives and RAM cards). Then I tried to boot it and got a booting error. I decided I needed a break. Around 3:30 AM I started googling solutions and turns out I just had to move the cpu fan power to cpu fan 1 instead of cpu fan opt (even though the fans were operating fine on cpu fan opt). After that it booted properly and my bios updated itself and repaired my drives. Its now 5 AM. Spent 8 hours building this PC. Basically a whole days work. That being said everything works fine now but next time if I ever have to replace a motherboard, I'm just paying for a pre-built. Building a pc is just too time consuming and stressful. I was sweaty af too.
Bright side, I can now run Ghost Recon Breakpoint at ultimate (max) textures on 4k and average 57 fps (before, id get like high 20s low 30s fps with the Ryzen 7 1700x). Cpu usage is like 17%, gpu usage is 97-98%. Think at this point the 3060ti is the performance bottleneck, but don't think I'm going to upgrade to a 3080ti/3090 just yet. Going to download far cry 6 tomorrow and do some benchmarks.
I also need to figure out how to disable the RGB on my motherboard (assuming its in the bios somewhere?). When I turn off my computer, the case lights and fan lights turn off but the motherboard stays on so long as the pc is plugged in and the psu is on. The light bugs me when I'm trying to sleep.

It's great that you got to build your pc successfully. It's alright if you did not enjoy the experience. Building a PC is not for everyone and time is money. Hopefully it was a learning experience though. And don't worry about the prices for your aio and case, as long as temps are good and stuff, you should be fine. Enjoy gaming!

xd yea I'm only talking about product names, not product categories. companies make great motherboards and then proceed to throw on the word gaming onto their product names
like if Logitech named their gaming mice "logitech G pro gaming wireless"
or if ducky named their keyboards "ducky one 2 mini red gaming"
clean and simple case with a proven track record
a perfectly reasonable option. Though fan options mentioned are high-end air cooling solutions so they would also get the job done. the r9 5900x is obscenely energy efficient and doesn't produce as much heat as you might expect so you might have saved some 50 odd dollars
yea you probably will never push 30% even with a more powerful GPU. your CPU is a beast among beasts

at the bottom, there is an option for "when system is in sleep" > set that to "stealth"
I like to push people to build their own PCs, I admit that. It's not for everyone for sure, especially when it comes to troubleshooting.
Additionally, generally, people recommend against pre-built PCs because those providers like to cheap out on the power supply, motherboard, the ram and the cooling for your system. (I have horror stories)
In future, if you have a mate who can put your build together for you or watch over you, that'd be my recommendation.

By prebuilt pcs, I moreso mean like those sites where you choose all your parts and then they basically build it all for you and send it to you (companies that come to mind are like NZXT and IBuyPower). I'd assume that if you're choosing the parts then you get exactly what you're looking for. Also haven't checked, but I assume most companies put a fee on top whether a flat fee to build or as a % of total cost. With certain parts mostly being sold by scalpers for exorbitant prices the difference might not be too drastic, but idk since I haven't really checked extensively.
Edit: Also noticed that my RAM cards are suppose to be DDR4-3000 (or at least that's what's written on the RAM cards) but my motherboards, both past and present both set RAM to 2133 MHz. I went into the BIOS and manually set it to DDR4-3000 and haven't run into any issues yet. I heard if you try booting at a frequency thats greater than what your RAM can handle that your computer will fail to boot (and luckily mine booted properly). Also set the RGB to stealth when my computer is off and it does turn off most lights though it still has a dim red lighting when I look into the case. Going to look through the BIOS a bit more.
