Okay, so this is what you wanna do:
Open up an ingame screenrecorder (like WeGame)
start a private match in a quiet map (like wasteland)
Grab your intervention and shoot with it
Cut the sound of the video and there you go, your intervention sound (*thanks* to Kamielftw not backup)

Just go to your 'main' folder in your MW2 install directory and open the .iwd files with winrar. You will find all sounds and music there.

You're right.
The iwd's contain ambient sounds, sounds for killstreaks, music, voiceovers, gun and explosion sounds for SP, but indeed not the gun sounds for MP.
I remembered comming across the gunsounds, I assumed it was while browsing the iwd's, I didn't check.
