Your problem sounds like it's driver related, graphics companies release new drivers every 3-4 weeks which fix a lot of game-play issues, bugs and crashes. Do a Windows Update and check in Optional Updates for additional audio and motherboard drivers, if you have on-board video you will find your video drivers on Windows Update too..
