I've come to a problem with a Macbook. It's an old one probably 4/5 years old now. This Macbook is my mom's macbook and i'm troubleshooting for her since she completely fails.
This morning, the macbook was still working and OS was fine.
At the airport (I flew back to Hong Kong today) I did drop her luggage case, but her laptop was in a protective cover and the suitcase is a HARD suitcase.. not a soft one. So there's practically no way impact broke the computer.
About an hour ago, she tried logging in but when she booted up the Macbook, it chimed, then stayed at a white screen. I've tried safe booting it, PRAM reset, SMC reset, and unplugging power and trying again.
It keeps booting up a white screen or if I do a safe mode boot, it gives me no screen.
Any ideas guys? I'm in Hong Kong, and I live in Toronto. There's no apple store in Hong Kong right now, and from what I see, it's either the HD has died or the software is corrupt.
I can not do a CD boot because I don't have the original CD software with me.
The OS is I believe Leopard.

2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor with 3MB on-chip shared L2 cache
1066MHz frontside bus
2GB (two 1GB SO-DIMMs) of 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM; two SO-DIMM slots support up to 4GB
Please don't give me a bullshit answer like "DON'T USE A MAC" because I'm not in the mood for it.
Too bad macs don't have chkdsk and don't come with recovery console
If you have access to the internet and a USB key (and can boot from it) or a blank CD, you can always try running some tests to find out what's wrong. Other than that I don't see what you can do if your macbook has a bad disk or anything /
