sticky keys

i was pressing shift alot and it came up with sticky keys, so i blocked sticky keys but then it disabled my keyboard. so i turned sticky keys back on and my keyboard worked again but now if i press shift 5 times it opens sticky keys... so how do i turn off sticky keys but also let my keyboard work?
