[Tutorial] How to use xfire for alteriwnet 1.3.37a

Hey guys!

This is a tutorial for all xfire users that have problems using xfire in alteriwnet (1.3.37a).

I've got this all from the official aIW website. (Credits at the end of the thread

)

So to start off:

Download the file from the attachments.

Now:

Select your MW2 installation directory.

Select the auto-update option if you want. The xfire directories should be right, if they aren't. Change them

If you've checked the auto-update option, you'll have to choose an AlterXfire directory.
If you want you could also check the 'Automatically start with Windows' checkbox. You can easily put this on and off whenever you want.

If everything goes fine, you'll get this message:

After clicking OK Xfire will quit and relaunch. When it's done doing that, you can delete the AlterXfire.exe if you want.

lol why do you need a installer thats just stupid all you do is copy these lines to the xfire_game.ini

Kind of surprised to see this here - but the advantage of this program over manually patching is that it runs in the background and automatically re-patches Xfire if they come out with an update. Since they've almost changed their entire development team very recently though, it seems these updates are less frequent at the moment.

New ownership I believe - they were acquired by some tiny little company (Titan gaming?). Viacom lost a ton of money buying xfire a few years ago, turned out they weren't able to really monetize it. Anyway, hope I didn't get too off-topic there.

And thanks, although really I'm never gone - I just lurk 80% of my visits.
