Literally, there is no difference between C# and Visual Basic. The syntax may be different (Dim x As String, String x, but the end result is exactly the same. The bytecode generated is exactly the same between the two languages.

The difference is the C#'s support for un-managed code !!

What? Both Visual Basic and C# can import functions from native DLL.

C# supports unmanaged code means I can write code that runs outside the CLS memory manager's control + can access memory directly, and make use of pointers etc...
Come on guys don't ruin VISUAL BASIC of the week with C#. This should be a place for VB Scripts.

Ohey, so can Visual Basic

How to do pointers in Visual Basic - CodeProject

C# just supports it in a more plain way. Furthermore, how are pointers and the GC relevant to a notepad? I don't see how you'd be needing to use either in this.

This is a Visual Basic and C# similarity comparison, not war :P

fixed, you forgot it
The C language has always been the dominant. C, C#, C++ ; VB is used in many things but rarely commercial (from what I understand) so, yes, it's a language to learn but try to know some other stuff too if you plan to write programs other than in VB. Yes, VB has sexy GUI creation but sometimes that's not all that matters.
