What's the point of steam?

If your account gets hacked you've lost all your games, whereas if you buy a cd you can't get it hacked.

Point of steam:

Easy to buy Indie games.

If your account gets stolen just report your original CD key to steam support, they will un-link the game from the Steam account so you can register it again.

I don't have to worry if I mis-placed my game CD or if it's scratched.

TF2, CS: S, 1.6, HL2, HL1, mods, etc...

Hundreds of thousands of people use Steam, if not millions.

Steam has games that are not sold in stores anymore, once you purchase a game it is available to download ASAP.

But you have to sell a steam account, and can't just exchange the disk for something else? Can't let mates borrow it etc.
