i need help making a mods!

i went to mod tuts and did the non photoshop one, but when i at this part "Then Click Textures tab and righ click down there and select import .tga files. Replace = yes." when i import the .tga files, it say it has to be uncompressed 24 - bit or 32 - bit. what that mean and what i do???

If it's from a .rar, you have to extract it.
