PS3 Jailbreak Complete Thread - Learn how to play downloaded PS3 games on your PS3

This tutorial is for using the TI 83 Silver and TI 89 Platinum to play jailbroken/downloaded PS3 games from the internet.

If you do not have a PS3 with 3.41 or later firmware, you will have to purchase some special software/hardware that takes your 3.50 firmware to 3.41 or later. If you do not have 3.41 or later firmware, DO NOT CONTINUE.

I would recommend having 3.41 firmware since most payloads and packages support 3.41.

TI 89 Platinum:
Since I have a 89 Platinum, I decided to start on this first.

Requirements:

• PS3 with 3.41 f/w
• TI 89 Titanium calculator with USB dongle
• TI-Connect
• External Hard drive or thumb drive with FAT file format (Make sure its recognized by your PS3 before continuing).

Instructions to install PS3JB:

1. Connect your TI 89 titanium to your computer via USB dongle
2. Start up TI-Connect
3. Open "TIDeviceExplorer"
4. Select your calculator
5. Drag the following packages to your calculator:
6. 1) PS3JB89.89z from ""
7. 2) HERM4BS.89y from ""
8. They will install, now you are done with PC. Disconnect the usb cord from your PC and connect it to your PS3.
9. Ensure your PS3 is turned off.
10. Start up the calculator, press HOME.
11. It should take you to the screen where you enter in your maths.
12. Now press 2nd + var-link (-) and select "ps3jb89" and hit enter
13. Next press ")" and hit enter
14. PS3JB89 should boot up
15. Now you need to configure it to work properly. Press f4
16. Stage one needs an entry, press 2nd + Var-Link (-) and choose herm4bs and hit enter.
17. Where it says "Use Device 6?", select yes
18. Now press OK and lets get the show on the road
19. Press F1 to start the process, and let it sit there
20. Turn off your PS3 completely (use the switch in the back of the PS3)
21. Turn it back on
22. Now the led on the front should be red
23. This is where shit gets tricky, press the power button, and the eject button immediately after.
24. If you don't do it correctly you will have to turn off the ps3 and do this step again
25. The best indicator of this is when the calculator hangs at stage 5 and never gets to stage 6 and never tells you "press any key to quit."
26. If done correctly, you should be able to install packages from the game menu and start any packages
27. Anyways, here is where you will want to install packages.
28. Basically get a thumb drive with FAT file format, and drag the PAK files you want to install on it.
29. Connect it to your PS3 and go to "Install PAK files" from your game menu
30. Choose the pak file to install, and there you go
31. Recommended pak files would be PS3-FTP-Server (Download: ) (fast transfer of games to your PS3) and Gaia v1.04 (Download: ) (To start the games). I have attached them below
32. Once you have them installed, you can transfer your files via FTP (Start the package and start the server, then go to your PC and connect to that IP... Ensure you are networked (Common sense)). The games go into HDD0/Gamez folder (You might have to make it if you have not started Gaia.
33. If you prefer to transfer it VIA usb and you have a 8+ gigabyte thumb drive with FAT file format, you can make a "Gamez" folder in the root of the thumb drive and drag your jail broken games in there granted you have enough space. You may run into problems if the game has files larger than 4 gigs, so using the FTP method is preferred.
34. To start the game, start Gaia, insert a game you already have (YOU HAVE TO DO THIS OR THE GAME WILL NOT SHOW UP), then select the game you want and wait for it to take you to the game menu.

This is a pretty coarse set of instructions. I wrote this because I had trouble finding any reliable/working instructions on the net. I will refine this, add screenshots and add instructions for other methods later.

3.50 Firmware and the developers SDK is a pain in the ass to get games to work online, even if your using Hermes V4 loader! I've been reading around and honestly Jailbreaking at the moment isn't worth the hassle! (Unless you have two PS3's). Other than this there's nothing really available for Modders to use in terms of online game hacking as most of the recent games use Sony's new encryptions and file extensions on client sided files (Game Saves etc).

nice. This might seem like a silly question to some of you but is it possible to still play online with games when they have been downloaded? Im asking this because when i did this with my Xbox i couldnt play online
