Has anyone figured out how to open the wav files in the IWD folders? They're not traditional wav files, and they appear to be missing a header. I've tried WMP and VLC player, no luck.

Yeah, I opened them with a hex editor and the header is missing. I tried copying the header from the MW2 files but I get a high pitched screeching sound.

The headers are usually modified from game to game no? iirc certain numbers detailed the game. ie 05= CoD2, 06= CoD4 etc etc... Im not sure if treyarch does it differently though.
And also, if I am not mistaken, did the header not change from CoD4 to MW2? I read it somewhere and never got around to looking.
OK, I ran the file through a file identifier and got these results..
I clicked on the link for the HSC thingy, but it isn't valid. I also did a quick Google but didn't know what I was looking for....
The sound files are probably encoded with a secret non-raw codec that we can't decode...
EDIT - Did some more exploring and found a plugin for WinAmp that could play 'HSC composer packed by Number Six' however, when playing the file, no sound came out..

I get the same no noise results whenever I mess with them. It appears treyarch wrapped their stuff up pretty tight this time around.
so your trying to extract sound from the iwd files?..
or trying to upload your own?..
All I'm trying to do is extract, and play. Maybe I'd use some of the sound clips in projects; however, I think I agree with master, the codecs can't be broken down.
Yeah, they're secretive this time with their files. That's okay, though. I don't see anyone or myself cracking this anytime in the near future. Thanks for trying. I'll continue to try also and post the results if I find anything.

once we get mods going in gameservers we might be able to have more access to things.
