how do i compile my stuff?
im using a book and the code is
/*
This is a simple C++ program.

Call this file Sample.cpp.
*/

#include <iostream>
using namespace std;

// A C++ program begins at main().
int main()
{
cout << "C++ is power programming.";

return 0;
}

what do i do with it and how do i compile it? i use vb c++
can some one tell me what type of file this is from the beggining (from when i open c++) when i click like, win32 or clr empty project, ect.... then what please help me
Seriously?

If you're using Visual C++ I think you should just take your time to look around, it's pretty obvious where you're supposed to go to 'build' your project. -hint hint-
Just Press F7
/Sad.

Get a good Book, And this time read it from the start, Not a tutorial or W/E, Neither Jumping.
Look guys! A perfect example of a copy-paster!

You can't just skip the reading part, it's there for a reason.
Typing out code and trying to build it doesn't teach you C++, in fact it just makes it harder because you're confused as hell.

READ. Reading is the gateway to knowledge and it's how we all learned to program. Typing out code doesn't teach you anything.
no no... the problem isnt compiling it!!! FFS... the problem is what type of file it should be!! the book doesnt say -.- lol il tell u what it says [code]
A FIRST SIMPLE PROGRAM
now its time to beggin programming. lets start by compiling and running the short sample c++ program shown here (the code above) you will follow these three steps.
1.enter the program
2.compile the program.
3. run the program.
before beginning lets review 2 terms: source code and object code. source code is the human readable form of the program. it is stored in a text file. object code is the executable form of the program created by the compiler.

ENTERING THE PROGRAM
fuck it.. il give u a ss -.-

What is vb C++? Visual Basic C++?... If you have Visual Basic 2008 Express edition that is the wrong compiler.

Secondly, you create an empty project, right click source files > Add files > .cpp file

Paste your copypasta in there and push f5

*offsite link*

Sign in with your hotmail account and it will give you the download, you don't have to verify for 2008 express. WAY better than 2010, 2010 makes me want to kill myself.

Plus everyone here uses 2008, and Hell rewrite the program practically he knows it that well.

Because it's a console app, it's meant to be run from cmd.exe

However u can add one of the following before the return line:
system("pause");
cin.get();
getch();

or one of the million other ways to have it pause untill you press a key...
