Yes, I don't understand what is more smaller? in fact I think 'it' became bigger.
To increase traffic.
If you want to go to flame&rage section it will now say that you're viewing the general section too. (im guessing).

It's just more organized, if that's what you're talking about. It also makes it easier to post in sections, and allows "dead" sections to come back to life.
