Well, I thought I'd just compile a few tips that have helped me. May already know, but may be useful for beginners.
1. Avoid rhymes that end with one syllable words
Ex. I do what I gotta do, going straight through you
2. Play a game called Cypher with friends or other MCs. Its a game where you rap a line or word and you go around in a circle rhyming along.
3. Broden your vocabulary by reading.
Ex. Dictionary or newspaper, pretty much anything.
4. Practice, use your surroundings and just start up a freestyle.
5. Relate to your subject. The best and most meaningful raps are the ones you feel strongly about.
Ex. A loved one or doing something with your life.
6. Use metaphors/similes/alliterations and other devices.
Ex. I'm bangin your girl Day n Night just like Kid CuDi.
7. Know when to use expletives and other vulgar terms.
8. Have variation in your raps, not every rap can be about tits/boobs/asses.
9. Have multiple rough drafts, go over raps multiple times. You will find that you improve something each time.
10. Think of a sick rhyme or line? Right it down. I have 10s of notes in my phone with things that might be useful in a rap down the road.
11. Learn and study other rappers. Kick back and listen to some of your favorite songs, be sure to pay attention to his/her lyrics and how he/she blends them together.
12. Try to use multiple transition words, not just the same ones over and over.
Ex. Cause Ima make it to the stop, Cause I just can't stop.
13. Encourage others, help each other, and have fun rapping/free-styling.
14. Hit enter after each line, that way it doesn't look like one big run on sentence. This make it easier for the reader and more enjoyable.
Hope this helps, feel free to add to it.
