[Concept]BruteForce on Mobile Device.

i was thinking this over last week, and a little bit last night, and i'll try and explain this as easly as i can.

wireless network point/node hacking using a phone.

not hacking a phone, or using a computer to hack a point, but using the phone to.

so, open an app on your wifi enabled phone, search for a network point,
select a kind of hack type like brute forcing or dicionary hacking, and press go.

now, most likely would have to be coded in java so most phones with wifi could use this. next problem might be speed/efficiancy and total gain. (usefull or pointless)

me myself have a KC910 so java is the easiest language to learn.

this is not a request, more of a check to see if it could be possible.
if you have any thoughts, ideas or if you know of anything that is like this, please post.

and i dont mean anything to do with bluetooth stuff.....dont need to touch that subject.....

erm... i knew a guy that claimed to be doing it with his iPhone (Obj-C)

Anyway, most of wireless connection are WPA, not WEP, and you are not hacking WPA with a phone that easily...

never said it was easy.
and here in australia, most people just set a wep (secured) password on there network and leave it.

I've thought about this too, but threw out doing the actual brute forcing on the phone, but instead rely on another computer to crack it for you. You know that whole cloud computing architecture, but applying it to hacking.

then after that you basicly just connecting to the node after the computer has cracked it.
(not much fun there)
if theres sutable funtions in java, and a phone can process at least 10 things at once, a simple bruteforce could work. might take a while, but still might work.
and a dictionary hack wouldent need as much well, reasorces as a brute, but might still obviously take a while depending on if its a built in list or one saved on the phone.

Yeh goodluck with brute-forcing on your phone. If ur gonna BF u need more powerful computers. Not gonna be able to do it on your iPhone unless you don't want to take a call for the next 100 years. Ur way better off just forwarding the passwords from a powerful server that calculates them and transfers to your phone. And even then Brute forcing is gonna be slow.

hence why i also suggested a dictionary hack.

(that calculator doesent seem right ether. i set it to a 4 digit combo, with all the ticks, 15 days. opened my brute-forcer, set the same stuff, estimated time - 20 mins)

Meh, idk I don't do the stuff, but maybe ur right? All I know is password brute forcing times have a tendency to go exponential really quick. WEP has a some sort of flaw that can be exploited, but WPA does not. Bruteforcing any of them would only be practical on short passwords. Is it possible to do on your phone? yes. I was just trying to workaround one possible bottleneck which might be ur phones processing speed.

You know that there is a few systems that if it detects brute force you will be slowed down. Which will take even longer... <_<

As i said before, most people in aus dont set a complicated password setup, just a basic one. If an app wast to be made, i guess BF'ing wouldent be the main hack. Could add the exploit/s and a dictionary as the pref settings, then BF as the long-term backup.
i cant be the only one here that thinks this could work.

Yeh its possible. I read about this one guy who could just guess people's passwords, it was kinda freaky. Some people are idiots when it comes to security, I believe I heard something like the most common password is "password". How silly is that?

top 3 most common passwords are :
1. password
2. 1234
3. (no password)

Princess, RockYou, abc123, Qwerty, Daniel, and 100's of others, infact 1234 is one of the least common passwords in this poll.

Password is only a common password used by default on PHP and asp.net systems, however users are told to change their password to something other then default and most comply.

So statistically your assessment is inaccurate.
