Anyway, it might not even work using that. Normally using the console doesn't require binding a key for for it

I am almost positive that even if you do turn off updates it still does them. At least I recall hearing people whine about it anyways.

Just go to your settings (in-game) and look for:
Console enabled/disabled, and check enabled.
This should work for everyone!
