When someone Solves something, why not close it? Because the rest will be Spam/Unneccesory Help. Its just a suggestion.

As I have said before, it denies further help that the OP may need.
If its /solved, it just puts [solved] in the name, its no were near helpful. No offense but it seems i can run a better forum. I believe that if its /solved and people keep talking, they're just getting Posts Up or spamming. If it seemed mean, it wasnt. It was kinda like a info way.

What would be better is to lock it. I.E the thread isn't crossed out, but no more posting is available. People tend to avoid crossed out threads.

What about other people with the same problem? They could use that thread to figure it out.
That's a good point, it does get rid of a lot of spam.
But what if the OP has more troubles with his solution? He would have to ask to have his thread reopened, or make a new thread.
C++ and coders lounge are both inactive enough to not need that. VB was already doing it afaik
Simple, rules say don't spam, if you see it report it.
I made the solved rule, and this whole thread is a metaphorical slap in the face.
Tagging something solved is better then closing it.
Reasons.
I cannot tell you how many times a issue is solved, then the next day the thread-starter would come back with the same issue, or perhaps a similar issue (happens ALL the time).
If we close the thread, then the user will make another thread for the same thing, and now we have 2 identical threads for no good reason.
Secondly, new members searching forums are most likely not going to open a closed thread, which means we may end up with duplicate questions when a answer already solved can be found in a search
next reason, MPGH has Prefix searching & keyword searching, members can easily search for a issue they have that has been solved already.
Appearance, almost everything in the programming section is a question, if I closed every solved thread, we would have no OPEN threads in this section at all.
So there are your reasons.
Thanks for your opinion, but with a attitude like that, you cannot run this forum better, you don't even have basic understanding of member ease of usability.
