char skin help

well i finally got minecraft to work again with the help of jailbroken - many thanks
and i am trying to add my character skin but like
it wont work anymore
i dont got a real account so i cant do it the easy way
i go to appdata-.minecraft-bin-minecraft jar-mobs- and rename the skin i want to "char.png" put it in there and start minecraft but get this -

Post the actual skin your trying to use? The steps you used look fine to me.

Make sure the file is just called "char" and actually is a .png.

search Yondime Hokage and it will be the second one there
ill double check its name

-yea the names right and its a png

Im assuming that when you open the png in a viewer it looks normal, so maybe just retry?

Rename the Yondime Hokage to just char (dont worry about adding .png as its already in png format
Drag it into the mobs folder, then test it out.

I also see your using a texture pack, which looks like Doku's RPG which is a 32x32. Which means you (should) have used a patcher to get it to work. Check in that to make sure there is not another char conflicting with it somehow.

when i move the char from bin to my desktop and open it, it is the skin i want not normal so it should be fine there

i did not use a patcher and i dont know what one is
but i cannot find any other char files anywhere

I just tried it myself and it came up. Try using the default texture pack and see if that works. If there is NO char file in the pack your using, that might also be the reason.

That patcher. Consider using it, as it will help a good bit. If you use that, then drag the char file in it may work.

im scared to use that because i wanna be able to see wolves

You will be able to see wolves if you use it though. So long as the actual pack includes them, and it it doesnt it will just use the default skin.

problem- the texture pack im using doesnt have a .zip file to it

So pack it in to one. How exactly are you using it if its not in a zip though?

i just open minecraft.jar and put all the files in there

to make it into a zip do i need to like have winzip?

Put all your texture files into one folder, then right click>Send to>Compressed folder.

Well redownload the game by using the force updater or something (to get a clean .jar) Then install you char into the mobs folder and make sure it works then. Then try using the pather. Redownload the pack from the forum to get it in a .zip form.
