this is what i have sofar:
what do y'all think?
Hi Prof!
this sounds like a sweet build. ok first up- do you like the colour red?
and how do you feel about shiny red lights and a flashy case?
To build "not just any computer" ; to build "something pretty awesome" is pretty fun to do on a budget such as yours.
Most modern pc focus primarily around the colour black, with board manufacturers using a lot of blue this round. There are some military cammo coloured ones coming through, also ive seen some nice black and silver/gold trim ones used to effect.
But to go the extra mile, to seek the road less travelled; - how about this:- ?

All that sofar tallies to about $1504. You'd still need to choose a videocard or 2;
1.) ASUS560 1G $299 2.)ASUS6950 2G $339 3.)MSI560 $298 4.) Gigabyte570 $445

and then there's whatever left over for a new 24" LCD or 2, a new mouse, keyboard, some fans, speakers, and a new copy of windows7Professional64 for (in itself $148) Oh and some hard disks.
if u can let me know in regards to what accessories you may be interested in, i can tailor a bit more.
How do you like the sound of 'dem shiny red apples?!
Survivzor.
P.S. the processor of course is a new intel 2600k that would be mildly overclocked to at least the 4Ghz point very comfortably with the self contained liquid cooling unit. heck from what ive heard 5Ghz isnt out of the question on high-end aircooling.
