Of course it isn't trash, It is pretty powerful and on current hardware the performance hit isn't even that big.

I don't see any notable performance hit. For most applications, we wait on user input more than we process information.

Powerful web server technologies are run on interpreted languages with frameworks these days, like Java and .NET, and they run perfectly fine!

For most purposes, .NET is perfectly fine! Even in game hacking.. It really simplifies some of that low-level cryptography and networking stuff for you.
