solve a rubik's cube? Ive had mine sitting here next to me for ages and I scrambled it up for the first time in a long time, and turns out I can still solve them.

like how many colors are aligned as such.

All it is, is a pattern. Once you find out the pattern, then it's all good. You can Youtube it.
Teachers Pet in my programming/Robotics Class can do it in 2 minutes
My record was ~1:30. I had an easy run though and it kind of came together automatically. 
its called algorithmic patterns.
