LTB(LTA) to a working format
Hello, I've recently been duking around with the CA model formats and trying my best to get them into max with skeletons.
As far as I've come I've gone from the LTB to LTA and slighty stuck in this space. The main issue is, that all the Talon toolsets do have importers, but sadly only for max 4 and such. Which is somewhat problematic to get at the moment.

I may have found an alternate way of getting them in, via the talon MEDIT>export to abc>milkshape>max of course the main problem for that is a need for an avp2 install since the medit avaible from this site, or the tron|nolf toolsets doesn't seem to allow that. Working on getting the install though.

(apparently ms3d 1.64 did support experimentally LTA's but I can't seem to get it to start nor find the importer in there )

Still it seems like an awful lot of work. I would have assumed that the community here would have some easier tools to be used. So does anyone know of a good way? Unless of course said tools were kept under the lid as much as possible for whatever reason.

Still thanks for any help or at least a redirection.
Ah much thanks. I was able to get it into max with the above method (and some saving and resaving in the various modeledits so that it didn't come out garbled.)

But I'm fairly certain that hopefully those two have a faster way and are willing to share.

Still it's surprising that even though lithtech games are not that uncommon there's so little documentation and tools. Hell's even a game like Clive's barker jericho seems to have had more support in that regard :P

But hey still not bad for wasting an hour and half on trying to figure it out :P

Only thing I'm wondering about - is it normal for the CA stuff to have incredibly rough rigging? To the level of seemingly only using a 1|0 weightlist as opposed to a smoothed one?

Or is that merely the downside of my conversion method?

I had started on 3ds max import / export scripts, but never got around to finishing them. It was far enough along to import the meshes and bones, but no weights or animations.

As for the 'rough' rigging, that is likely due to my converter, as the weights aren't decompiled correctly and are off (its really a problem when there are several bones sharing vertices).
Assuming you created the LTB>LTA converter in the first place. Yeah I remember there being similar issues with importer war3 models for a while as well. Though it's nothing unfixeable. Just means a bit of work from my end. Same goes for the smoothing groups.
