Copy paste your current jar into a new folder. Then update and experience 1.5. When you want to play MP again, just get your backup jar and replace the 1.5 jar file.

i prefer to stay with 1.4_1 and just update when MPGHCraft updates
Just got done with what I kinda hope to be the final update. I have to say that this was the biggest update thread Ive had to do. /phew

Cant edit my post at this point, so here is a rundown of the 1.5_01 and 1.5_02 updates.
1.5_01
Bug Fixes:
Game no longer crashes when Detector Rails are placed next to normal rails.
Blocks can now be placed on Snow and Water.
Rain no longer goes through translucent blocks.
Pumpkin inventory texture is now fixed.
New Bugs:
SMP was destroyed. The list of bugs in this update was so catastrophic SMP became virtually unplayable. (Certainly not fun to play anyways)
If you resize the window (no-fullscreen) after typing in the world name and the seed, they both will be reset to "New World" and a blank seed.
In SMP you will get an "dirt screen" when taking something out of the Workbench.
On some servers if a block is placed on a snow block, the action will be immediately reversed and the snow block will return and the placed block will be added back to your inventory.
In SSP lightning on Steps is broken. Step turns black.
Rain falls through Water.

Fixed Bugs:
All errors dealing with SMP were fixed.
New bugs:
You can place objects on the Workbench when there is snow on it.
On rare occasions Fences can turn invisible
