A problem with my computer

I am having problems with my computer and I think it has something to do with my graphics card/and sound card , or my whole motherboard.

I was playing CA one day and my whole PC froze. I though it was random but it started to occur a lot

Then I started to have startup repair problems and it would let me run full screen games. Then my sound stopped working. I am now on safemode on my computer unable to do anything.

and Microsoft said it has something to do with display hardware.

I do not know whats wwrong wiht my pc can anyone help me out.

I have a Inter Core 2 Quad Processor Q6600
Graohics Card: Nvidia Geforce 8400 gs
64 bit operating system
RAM :3.00 GB

Please help me come up with a solution and tell me the problem.

1. update graphics card drivers
2. Update sound drivers
3. New graphics/sound card?
4. Format

A freshly reformatted computer is the best computer.

Can you guys tell me how to do that.

I do not know much about a computer other than the basics.

I need the CD to reformat though, and I think I have misplaced it

Dunno what to tell you then. It's not hard, but it's not exactly basic. And if you don't have a CD for all the drivers after a fresh install, it's gonna be a bitch getting it back to working state.

I have a recovery CD that futureshop gave me, when I bought this computer.

It said this DVD is used to re-install microsoft windows& and any other drivers&applications that come with this computer?
