Hardware/Firmware problems. If your drive was previously modded, then the new XBL update could be causing this. Or your 360 could have just kicked the bucket. 
my old one got 3ring then im like fuck it put dat bitch in the trash...

You can temp. fix it with the X-Clamp Fix (Tighter/New Clamp + Arctic Thermal Paste)
OR
You can get the motherboard "reflowed"
