Connecting to Vindictus from outside the US

Someone asked for a guide, so here I go. I used proxies all of last year to connect to Mabinogi Heroes in KR, so I thought I'd write what you'd need to play in the US.

You'll have a couple of options presented to you for this:
1. Use a proxy - The cheaper and somewhat less reliable
2. Use a VPN - The more expensive and more reliable
3. Wait for the Q4 2011 release date, but you don't want to do that, right?


I'll be writing about the proxy method, which is, in my opinion, pretty damn easy to do.

What you'll need:
- A program that can utilize proxies for this (I recommend Proxifier, just google it, it's what I use.)
- A proxy list, which you can just google for.
- Patience, you might go through 10 or 20 proxies before finding a working one.

Now, let's get started!


Step 1: Find a proxy.
Hell, there's so many U.S. proxies compared to Korean ones, you should not have trouble with this one. Googling proxy list works or you can use a US friend's proxy, it doesn't matter. Make sure the proxy you choose has the following, or it won't work.
-Be either SOCKS 4/5
-IP Address
-Port number
-Authentication if your proxy requires it, it probably won't, though.
-Make sure it's a North American proxy, preferably US.



Step 2: Get out your program.
-Now since I can't know every other proxy program, I'll try to attempt to give an overview on what you'll have to do with Proxifier. There are other programs which mask IP, such as the Tor Project, or Hotspot Shield. I don't know if those work for this, but if they do, they'd be much, much easier than this, so give them a go if you have the time.

-To add a proxy server, click either Proxy Settings in the Options menu or the button on the toolbar.
-Press Add to add your proxy server.
-Type in the IP/Port along with the protocol and authentication if required.
-OPTIONAL: With recent versions of proxifier, you can test your proxy. When you've entered your proxy info, test your proxy. If it works, use it. If not, try again.
-Press OK until you come back to Proxy Settings. Then check the box next to your proxy and press OK.



Step 3: Log in.
-You should log in after you confirm the proxy can connect to the internet and that it works for you.
-After logging in, start game as usual, and select/create your character.
-Now, when you get to Colhen, you can turn your proxy off, but read below about the consequences of turning of turning it off before doing it!



Step 4: Play the game!
-That's it, you're done, but there's a few catches. If I'm right, you won't be able to use Marketplace, Mail, Friends, or Guild with your proxy off. However, you can still play the game as normal, so it shouldn't be a major problem.
-I also don't recommend advertising your status as an out-of-the-states player. It can lead to a quick ban if reported.

Okay, some few additions. Use Proxycap x64 as program if you can. If not you have to find another program.
To use the marketplace, start game on the website, turn proxy on in the main menu and turn it off after you selected your char.

Still can use Proxifier?

Yeah, if you're going to do Proxycap, you might as well try the Tor Project. I prefer it's UI more than Proxycap.

Okay, thats rly weird. Actually i stopped using Proxifier because it was detected. Now i can use Proxifier 2.91 without problems..

Edit: Hackshield crashed. Or detected. Not sure.

alot of people can't use proxifier cause it gets detected to them somehow

No idea if proxycap works, isn't 64bit still undetected?

Just thinking when i use proxifier i turned off the proxy after i logged in ( just before selecting my character) i can still use marketplace and nexon supply depot store and all the other things.

i can't remember who told me cause it was a while ago but if you get the error where you can't use the market you should refresh your cache by cleaning it or something.

guildchat/friends are through nmservice.exe if you swap in town i think it will disconnect you disabling you from seeing if you have any friends/ guild chat.

Only saying that because marketplace did not work for me in KR when I did that.
