I love the violin. How fast you learn how to properly use the violin depends on your teacher. For example, my first violin teacher didn't have me use a shoulder rest when I needed to use one. Then I switched teachers after a year and he told me I needed a shoulder rest and I noticably played better. And then you have the problem of how fast you learn the finger positions and how much you practice a day. Then you have how you're supposed to hold the bow and how you're fingers are supposed to curl and uncurl when you move the bow up and down. I practiced doing that with a pencil. It's a tough instrument to master but in the end I think it's worth it.
