one with the green background was from mpgh.net/comic
the pokemon ones were from Google
some I made myself (like my 671's)
others I just go on Google and render them or whatnot. Most of my avatars are from Google or I made them.
maybe, go to planetrenders.net
(make an account first). login and view the renders gallery Then download whichever you like, resize them to 150 or 175 on picdrop.net, and upload via url in your Edit Avatar form

There's a lot of generic sites made solely for avatars, so I usually look around for something that looks cool. And if that doesn't work, then I use Google Images
