For the lolz
I was trying to find a way to store the original value of each and every gun as I looped through it for a super efficient on off switch. It led to this function which reads memory and stops at the first 0x00 or after it's gone through a certain amount of bytes. The reason I use i in this source is because as I loop through the address it checks to see if it's a gun or not, if it is it reads the name of the gun and checks it against the names of knifes and mutants, then goes to the offset for the feature and stores the value and address in an array. Anyway find a way to use it if you want, I'm only making this stuff because I'm reading a c++ book and I believe practice is the best way to learn. (It's 4:50am so check for errors) the 'r' prefrix means a the following variable is a reference. There might be random comments because it's in my hack source code which is full of random ideas commented to the side. I is a reference too btw. t prefix means temp(because it only stays in scope for a few seconds)
I'm using this to make a visual weapon hack without having to know the addy for each part (that only works if you have a d3d menu though, at least as far as I can tell)change char to dword if you want to store four bytes each time

Code:
// this isn't tested
char readMemory(DWORD range)
{
if(range == NULL)
{
while(*(char*)i != 0x00);
{
tletter = *(char*)i;
i++;
rletter = tletter;
return (false)
readMemory(NULL) ;
}
}
else
{
while(i<= range);
{
tletter = *(char*)i;
i++;
rletter = tletter;
return (false);
readMemory(NULL) ;
}
}
}
//the first value in the array will be the levels. it will be called like char storage [] = readMemory()
