A friend of mine had the same problem, he.. well I fixed it by deleting his complete steam map, re-downloaded steam and installed it. He didn't know of the new lay-out of Steam.
zzz, no you can not,
either find the problem or contact steam support.
return your game and download alteriwnet.
alteriwnet > steam mw2
Kind of reminds me about a kid on our forum; 'I just bought crysis 2 and my notebook wont play it without lag. How can I make it work?'.
Same here, if you don't have the pre-requirements (i.e. steam) then you shouldn't buy a game for steam
1.Hmmmmm.Well you can use alteriwnet using the game that you purchased but ill go for the steam.
Just click here https://support.steampowered.com/kb_...3046-ECVN-3712
and install the game.
2.Use alteriwnet on your purchased game but you still need to use steam so just install it.
You will need an account which is free. Register when you have steam.

only if i were him i would download aiw
@ op just download aiw it's much better also
Delete stream and restart it, if it does not work the game isnt. If all else fails call customer support.
I have to agree with monkey79, uninstalling steam, then deleting all steam instances using RevoUninstaller, then re-installing steam and Mw2 will defiantly fix the problem.
