Fishing Hacks?

I've searched a few threads and I've found nothing really conclusive.

I'm new to the whole console thing, and was wondering if there was any fishing hacks whatsoever?

That looks like it requires me to buy a Fishing Rod for $$$. I'd rather keep it to something I can obtain ingame for gold or something.
