if i get a Hd Pvr and i have really old crappy tv can i still get good quality?

yes if you make your ps3 on hd 1080 output the 1080p gos into the hd pvr and than split to pc and tv so it doesn't go through your tv the quality

HD PVR's only support 720p. (Hauppauge HD PVR)

Well maybe you should buy a capture card before hd pvr since you have and old crappy tv.

dude it doesn't record the tv output but ps3 output so if you put the ps3 on 1080p it will record on 1080p....

that is how everybody records their gameplay?

if you wanna record every gameplay it takes a lot of hd space...

yeah but it doesn't matter if you record it through theater of while gaming....

Aslong as your tv has HD Compenents at the back of it ( or on the side ) ( Red green blue ) then it'll be fine.
If not then the PVR will be no good.
