And I had the same thing happen to me when trying to take off a heatsink once. Damn things was pretty mch glued on there so when it came out it pulled the CPU out and bent one of the pins. Bent it back and the CPU works to this day.

You said DDR2 vs DDR3. That is for memory. What you are looking for would be differences like AM2 vs LGA 775 or something like that.

Well processor been running all day no problem looks like it's fine.
