Problem with CS5 phtoshop

in photoshop cs5 when i try to use text tool and i try typing anything there is nothing typing when i do enter and use a another layer the layer for the text tool layer name is what i try to write

Try changing the color or the size of your font...

Maybe you didn't select the right color. Or maybe you just didn't select the whole part of where you want the text to be..
