Why is the background still white...?

because when you upload avatars that just happens

Then how did -God- get his like that? >.<
EDIT:
Idea: 1. Hood take a pic of the site and paste it on paint
2. Take the dropper tool and click the area around your avatar
3. color the white background of your pic that color so it looks like it was rendered

That works, only because the picture is very undetailed. o.0

it looks teh same as before because of the drop color in the back.
