Linux, Not Bad
Alright, so I have been thinking about learning the ways of the "Linux Jedi's" for quite some time now. But today i got a sudden rush of boredom so i took the time to partition and dual boot several Linux distro's, starting with Debian, and moving up to Linux Mint. I have got to say that Linux is pretty cool. All the terminal things were a bit confusing at first, but once i got the hang of it i was installing all kinds of awesome packages and tools. My wireless network drivers were a bit of a hassle (only because i'm dumb, and couldn't figure out which cord was coming from my router, and which was from my modem). but all the distro's i tried out detected that i needed the driver and offered to install it automatically. So, how have your experiences with Linux been, and what do you mainly use Linux for (if you use it at all)
I've been using it on Virtual Box for quite sometime now and it's nice. But it also speaks out why windows is best.

Yeah, it's not really the best for use as a main OS, but would make a good server, which is obviously why everyone uses it for their servers...
Reasons I cannot use Linux as my main OS:
- Linux runs on a "the OS is your IDE" mentality.
- The GUI toolkit - the UI components, style and size are badly designed.

My thoughts exactly :3
NetBSD is also quite nice. Haven't tried the others but they all have good reviews. There're pics of them running NetBSD on a toaster, though for what purpose I know not.
problem?

I use both Linux and Windows everyday and sometimes Mac.

I haven't tried OpenBSD yet but I heard that's the it's highly secured.

It's as secure as any other operating system (using hardened settings).
Windows Server Edition ftw

Ew. Too. Many. Fucking. Zero day. Exploits.

I mean, I love Windows Server and all (.NET + Entity Framework ftw), but I won't have it as a public-facing server. I'll generally proxy requests through a Linux machine to some Windows server in the back.
I like linux, I have tried Debian, Ubuntu (Desktop & Server), and CentOS. Debian sucks but I love Ubuntu, the server is easy as hell to setup and control. The Ubuntu Desktop looks nice and works prefect but the only issue is theres to many compatibility issues other wise I would use it as my main OS (which it was for about a month).

You should really try Ubuntu (11.04 - 11.10 is coming out soon but not stable)-> Ubuntu.com

CentOS 5 is an amazingly stable and low maintenance server for mass deployment, and Fedora w/ Enlightenment is my favourite desktop distro mix.
I have nothing against Linux but I prefer the windows.
Not bad at all
I've been using Ubuntu Linux for over a year as my main os. I currently got Ubuntu 11.10 desktop. But have used other versions and also other Linux distros aswell suchas fedora, centos and a few server ones too. I love Linux. you have full control it comes with a great community and there's so much you can do with it.

I got some good experience with Linux so if u need help with something just message me.
Nice fucking bump dude !!
