If you've ever been at a Skrillex show you'd know that he always states that he has created his own version of dubstep.

Also, Skrillex isn't mainstream. "is someone who jumps from trend to trend so that they fit in with the rest of the crowd. Mainstream is being what society thinks you should be, and look like." I doubt Skrillex is promoted on MTV 24/7 as something you should be.

Been to more than one and he's one of the few artists who's whole discography I constantly listen to. I follow his stuff regularly and I'm still not gonna call all of his stuff "dubstep". He can label it anything he wants, it's just not proper dubstep and that's that.

I do agree, not all of his songs are dubstep based. He does tons of different music genres but you can't say he's mainstream, and the reason why is what I edited right before you posted and didn't see it I guess. What do define as "proper" dubstep seeing as you're the only person I know that thinks Skrillex isn't "proper" dubstep. But nonetheless, your opinion = irrelevant and won't change my mind one single bit

You're the post-real dubstep listener, can't blame you for not understanding. Also as far as being mainstream goes, he's pretty much as mainstream as it goes within such music genres. He has his own label, he's attention whoring everywhere and he's got shitfucktons of followers. I'm not saying it's a bad thing, but it's true. Personally I love a track if it's good, regardless if it's as mainstream as they go or if they're totally unique indie compilations.
Alen is completely correct here. Dubstep has always been classified by it's filth, grime, dirt, etc.. where as Skrillex makes something that is more like candy for the ears. Consider Skrillex as Popstep, but it's not the good old Dubstep.

Excision is real Dubstep.
TOKiMONSTA or gtfo.

even though she doesn't make dubstep, me give no fucks 'cause her music is like nujabes's.

Right now its pumped up kicks dub step remix but there are a lot of others as well.

I know what you mean, I listen to Metal, and Dubstep. But Metal usually prevails.
