Is there a command to speed it up?

Yes there is most binds have one that speesds up time just check for increase time host or something along the lines

I was sure that didnt work in town though

You could try and use host_timeplus as well. It basically jumps a bit in time. I don't know if it works with this as well because I haven't tried it, but I guess it's worth trying.

Host timeplus works when you're doing it, but it has a greater chance of freezing your system when you do it in increments over 120 (2 minutes time passed) especially when doing crafting because of the whole background calculations, and transmissions between you and the real server each time an item's made.
I would guess doing it too high would give you an engine error, or the likes.
