Hooking Joystick Input

Hey guys, my uncle (him is 16 years old) just won a joystick and I
get a DirectX Sample for joystick input and starting playing, so I'm controlling my mouse with the
Joystick,clicking and all the good stuff but when I lose focus of my application It stop, how
can I make a kind of Global Hook for the controller?

Joysticks don't really generate any events so there's nothing to hook, you'll have to constantly poll the joystick and do stuff based off of the results.
