Building a Computer Case

I want to build a computer case.

How would I go about designing it?

I have tons of plexiglass for if I wanted a clear case and sheet metal seems pretty cheap.

But what tools do I need?

Obviously something to cut metal and/or plexiglass with. A hole saw for fan holes.

I might get aluminum sheet metal then put carbon fiber sheets over it.

How thick should I buy the aluminum?

Wow, thats pretty amazing. But I'm thinking of making a case with the back side that has diamond plating and the front will have a wood finish. Then the sides will be sort of like a wooly fabric. I'm going to buy those power switches that you flick up and down instead of buttons. 1 CD bay and 3 Hard Drive bays. I'm not really into water cooling. I like jet engine fans.

I just don't know where to buy the parts. Brackets, screws, hard drive enclosures, power supply bracket, power switch/wires, ect.

I'll draw sketches and post if this thread stays open.

I wouldn't know how one would go about doing this manually, you'll have to be very accurate. Screws and the such can be bought from any computer hardware store, just go visit any that are close by. You can get everything from mobo trays to fan grills. I would advise you rather mod a case or buy one of those skeleton barebone cases and work from that, building everything from scratch would be ... hard. Very hard.

Thats the point. I like things like this.

I made an entertainment center out of marble and glass with my Grandpa last year for my Dad's Christmas present.
