What purpose would those planes have other then to be out maneuvered and destroyed by jets?
Underground AC-130, they destroy mines!
Nobody puts an Easteregg to a place where you could only go via glitch. So it's not an Easteregg.

The box is a part of detail in many levels. The line on it itself is funny but not really an Easteregg too as it's not really hidden.
