Subjects V2
Defo doing Math English Economics & Computing

I have to pick 2 more

The ones i can pick are
Chemistry Accounting Biology Earth Sciences & Physics

I might as welling do accounting & go down that career path
meaning that the 5th subject I choose will be fairly irrelevant.
AFAIK I can drop 1 subject next year & have a study period so I think I just need to choose a Science for this year
imo Earth Science sounded like the funnest choice while Physics sounds the worst
I would chose Accounting > Earth Sciences > Chemistry > Biology > Physics

Earth Sciences is apparently gonna contain lots of reports & shit so that would be a good back up for my English

Any reason I shouldn't pick accounting & Earth Sciences?

Earth Sciences is a very hands on class afaik and there are lots of field trips & shit.

I would rather not have the input from the 13 y/os

Tell me the reasons why you're telling me to do or not do one of them

Thanks.

Also Most likely going to be going to Otago university.
Definitely pick earth science over the other sciences. I touched on it lightly during my senior years and it was hella fun. As long as you get a good teacher who is as hands on as you are. Do that for a year then drop it during the second year.

What grade are you in and what sciences have you taken? its not in order in Nz?
11th year of school I'm 16 turning 17 this year of school
I've had Chemistry Bio & Physics sharing 1 year for 3 years in a row
@Poison
Why do people think bio is hard. Seriously, you must not be that clever. Bio is a fucking fantastic class to boost your OP (if you're good at it) because so many dumb people take it because they want to take a science. Your high score + their low score = fucking high OP. That's why I'm taking it (and I'm doing a bach. of science when I'm older, and I guess doing a science would be appropriate).

Also, @Ed which math are you doing?

Hopefully I'm moving on to Calculus

@Doc Thoughts on these 2 Jobs?

Chief Financial Officer: (summary) - Careers New Zealand
Sharebroker: (summary) - Careers New Zealand

Or could you suggest a better job for me?

Chief financial officer is definitely more stable and will be a good platform for better things. Sharebroking is a really hit and miss occupation. If you really want some good cash and don't mind putting in a lot of hours and work then you should consider going down a path to become an M&A Analyst (merging and acquisitions). Juniors earn around 100K a year with seniors (5+ years exp) earn in excess of 300K, keep in mind though that their average working week is around 70+ hours. I think financial officer is a more balanced position to be seeking.

I'd be doing a BCom no matter which one I pick anyway, right? So I could keep my options open and research a bit of them all and then work out which one I wanted to pick later on?

Yeah a BCom should put you in good steed for most financial career choices. They usually aren't very selective with what sort of Bach you take, most courses overlap each other anyways.
Do not know NZ curriculum so I cannot advise you on this. I took Earth Sci a loooong time ago.

Not just about school

cause I'll need the subjects to move onto university.
Physics and Chemistry (or) biology
Accounting for sure. Leaning it for 2 years now and it isn't that hard as people say. The second subject could be Earth Science but i dont know much about it.
