Using VB To Connect To A Website
I'm looking to make a program in VB2010 that will connect to a website and then do whatever, but without using the WebBrowser in visual basic. I may be mistaken but i was searching around and came across winsock? I'm not sure if thats correct or not, i've never tried anything like this in VB before so any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

I would like to know what you would do.
Because you have the SQL connection option. (Not that I know so much about that.)
ANd you have the WebBorwser Document stuff.
But then you will only get stuff that is on that site you are on.
And can use that.
Like I made a program that will notify me when there is a new post/thread on the site that is unread for me.
And then I used the Document and the GetAttribute stuff.
If you want to only download source code from a website and do manipulations on it, then you can simply use a web client that doesn't requires a browser. If you want to authenticate forms, etc on a webpage, you can use Web Requests. If you want to use the DOM source of a webpage then you'll have to use a web browser. So, it really depends on what you want to do. Choose what you want, and then move with the most appropriate method.
