Programming.. Getting tired
A year back I could tell I was going to code the whole life because thats what I like to do.

But 'today'... I get tired of it too quickly.. I mean, it's just plain boring. <- something wrong here.
I have no idea on what's happening.

I dont feel like doing any project, learning anything new. Jesus.. .___.

Forcing yourself to do it will only make you even more bored.

Play a video game, do some sports or something. If you pause long enough you'll get drawn back in sooner or later. OR go to another section of computer science so you don't lose your technical edge. For example: hack-up some old radios or build your own robot.

Get into the electrical engineering side of it. Get your hands on some microcontrollers and dev boards, make your own devices, robots like SCHiM mentioned, or little computers. Build a stun gun via transformers and capacitors. Build an inductance forge. Loads of things you can do, but again like he said, don't lose your edge. Always keep your knowledge fresh even if you don't practice it a lot.
You could also take up weight lifting, a martial art, and some extreme sports. That's what I've been doing.

I do have a lot of time, lately I've been weightlifting, mountain biking, and skiing.

Depends on what kind of developer you are.

Some developers find coding mundane but the outcome gives them "energy" & enthusiasm. Other developers love point a. to point b. & the completion of. While there are some who endure the mundane for a small - large payout.

Determine if you are either of those, grit your teeth & move forward & if you are none, then don't go down a path you can never enjoy, playing a video game and taking a break won't satisfy anything, it's normal to take breaks when doing anything, I think Brinuz is referring to development in general, not the time frame in which he develops.

Haha I just went through a phase of the exact same thing. Now that I'm forced to code quite a bit for work, I find when I get home I have no motivation to write anything. I think I went about a month without writing over 20 lines of my own code at home, was just so damn bored and uninspired. Give it a bit of time and it'll come back (hopefully), I'm starting to get back into it a bit.

Currently in the same stage as you. Also, I've been busy with other things that programming didn't get enough, though I sort of enjoy the break from all my damn compiler errors and problems with SDL. What I've been doing lately is tinkering with hardware. I've been working on making my NES clone from hong kong, the "yobo" into a portable device. But also, when you take one thing, you sometimes have to give up another. I noticed when I stopped programming for a while, my Japanese level soared xD Maybe once I'm fully fluent, i'll go back to programming. Though what I have to say is that in the 1.5 years i've learned japanese, I sure accomplished more than when i programmed for 1.5 years. Instead of just being a mediocre programmer, i managed to translate half of a game before I gave up from the tedious hex editing.

Yup, At the moment I use skype most of the time. o.O Got used to it.

Ill get on messenger more often anyway.
