Yo, I would send this in a PM but I can't verify my email for some reason so it won't let me send.
My goal over the summer is to get proficient in programming in C/C++ to prepare for a course in college. (Concurrent Computing)
Would you say that modding in Vindictus would be a decent practicing ground? Or is it harder then I'll expect?
The reason I ask this is so I won't be blindly diving into something.
Current knowledge :
Pointers
Structures
Programming in general
Logic. The best weapon we all have.
Assembly (kinda, I might be classified as a script kiddie here. I'll learn more of this over the summer)
Goals :
Learn more of C Syntax
Become Proficient in pointers
Having fun
Modding has nothing to do with C/C++ so I do not recommend that. What you can do is trying to make your own console. You'll definitly need some pointers. No idea if its fun for you, lol.
You need 15 posts to PM me. Just add me on Steam or MSN.
There's really nothing you can mod in Vindictus relative to what you can do in other Source engine games like Half Life 2. The only Vindictus mods are texture mods, and that's mainly graphic design rather than computer programming. I agree with Nico, if you want to hone your programming skills then try to make hacks.
Thanks, I might try that. Though I have how to start on said project...
For one I don't even know how consoles work. A source code of some kind might be a good starting point but Google has told me anything useful.
EDIT:
Sorry, replace "mod" with "hack". I've always use the two interchangeably. Since You're technically modifying the files.

The tutorials section has some nice codes. Just add me on MSN or Steam :l
